I believe Sport Management will get the same effects of AI that many other industries will see. Kai-Fu Lee says we will see a massive decline in the need for job positions that involve pattern recognition, data processing, data input, repetitive decision making and administrative tasks. Jobs like these are exceptionally vulnerable to AI, the reason for this being AI can do this in seconds for free, while a human takes time, effort, and most importantly payment.
AI will improve many things in the sport management industry, such as fan experience and marketing. With the abilities of AI and data storing and sweeping, we will be able to create precise and engaging marketing designed for specific communities. Sport organizations rely on data such as stats, ticket sales, injury risk prediction, and scouting to make crucial decisions for players, potential players and the organization itself. AI could enhance all of these jobs, by organizing the mass amounts of data so that these workers can simply just interpret it, and make the best possible decision, speeding up the entire process.
As AI continues to evolve, which it will, its influence on Sport Management, and all industries for that matter, will only grow. While the data driven jobs will see a decline, the important jobs that include needs such as leadership, strategy, communication, and human judgement will continue to remain essential and only grow. There will be a real benefit for all communities and economies if we stop learning to be scared of AI, but learn to adapt with it, it can be such a helpful tool for our society, saving so much of our time, and time is really all we got.
